Mengo Hospital is a Church of Uganda-owned, missionary founded, and Private Not-For-Profit (PNFP) hospital. It is a 300-bed hospital located at Namirembe Hill in Kampala, categorized as a General Hospital but operationally a Referral Hospital. The hospital exists for Christian witness in the field of healthcare, at the heart of which is a belief in God's love and the meaning of Jesus' healing ministry. Mengo Hospital seeks to recruit suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions.

Job Title: Enrolled Nurses/Midwives (13)
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Section/Departmental Manager
Location: Mengo Hospital, Kampala

Key Results Areas:

  1. Quality patient care service for patients provided.
  2. High-risk cases identified and reported.
  3. Ward or health unit activities organized and managed.
  4. Accountability for finances and other resources provided.
  5. Discipline enforced.
  6. Customer care skills exhibited.
  7. Students are trained on the job and equipped with hands-on experience in patient care.
  8. Reports well written and submitted as required.

Position Requirements (Job and Person Specifications):

  1. Certificate in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
  2. Must be registered with Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council, with a valid practicing license.
  3. At least one year's relevant experience in a reputable healthcare facility.
  4. Espousal to Anglican faith values is desirable.
  5. Computer literacy and willingness to use hospital computer systems IS A MUST.
  6. Excellent communication skills with a high level of customer service skills to deal with all clients and patients.
  7. Strong organizational abilities with a high level of integrity.
  8. Leadership abilities to manage and motivate junior staff members.
  9. Teamwork and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  10. Attention to detail.
  11. Flexible and ability to prioritize tasks.
  12. Creative problem-solving skills.
  13. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
