Job Details:

Position Summary:
The Project Coordinator is responsible for Overseeing and ensuring that all activities related to project are implemented in a timely and efficient manner according to the agreed Donor Guidelines, standards and budget, and provide leadership and coordination for all aspects related to the projects/ Programs.
Responsibilities and duties:
Key Result #1: Project management and coordination
• Provide overall leadership, management and guidance to the development of project designs.
• Guide and provide technical support to implementing staff.
• Guide project staff in design and development of Annual Activity Plans and budgets
• Manage and coordinate project activity implementation, in line with approved activity plans and budgets.
• Strengthen capacity of implementing partners, if applicable
Key Result #2: Coordination and reporting
• Provide overall leadership, management and guidance to the development of project designs.
• Guide and provide technical support to implementing staff.
• Guide project staff in design and development of Annual Activity Plans and budgets
• Manage and coordinate project activity implementation, in line with approved activity plans and budgets.
• Strengthen capacity of implementing partners, if applicable
Key Result #3: Project monitoring and evaluation
• Facilitate effective monitoring, documentation and reporting in compliance with agreed standards
• Share M&E findings with staff and other relevant stakeholders
• Working closely with the M&E officers, ensure a functional project M&E system
Key Result #4: Finance management
• Manage project finances and assets in line with FHU policy
• Project budget management and control
Key Result #5: Performance management and supervision
• Manage, supervise and build capacity of project staff in project development, management and implementation.
• Carry out bi-annual performance appraisals of project staff
• Monitor and document performance of partners, if applicable
Key Result #6: Project resource mobilization
• Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners, other NGOs, government, church and local leaders, and other stakeholders in planning and implementation.
• Develop platforms for sharing information with partners and stakeholders
• Guide and participate in joint campaigns, advocacy initiatives for beneficiary empowerment with partners and stakeholders
• Ensure project advocacy initiatives are implemented in line with FHU mandate
• Identify key funding sources in line with FH fundraising strategy and closely work with sector specialists and
• supervisor to acquire these funds.
Key Result #7: Documentation and reporting
• Review and file all relevant project documents
• Timely submission of end of monthly, bi – annual and annual reports and donor specific reports
• Documentation and sharing of best/promising practices to strengthen FHU`s institutional memory and learning
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural extension, Science in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agriculture Economies or related fields is a must. Post-graduate degree is desirable.
• A significant (at least 5 years) experience working with an INGO in increasing positions of reporting and responsibility.
• Experience (2 years) developing and implementing Agriculture and Livelihoods sector activities.
• Minimum 5 years’ Experience with donor compliance and reporting, budgets and tracking of project resources
• Solid experience of community mobilization approaches and coordination with governments / local authorities.
• Good leadership qualities and ability to interact effectively with donors, counterparts and organizations.
• Experience with donor compliance and reporting, budgets and tracking of project resources.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
• Logistical planning and problem-solving skills.
• Experience living and working in dynamic, insecure environments and with local communities.
• Ability to live and work from within a remote post.
• Demonstrated written and oral English communication skills (must be able to provide an independently created and relevant writing sample).
• Demonstrated budget and expense management skills.
• A valid motorcycle riding permit, including the ability to ride and care for a motorcycle.
• Maintains an attitude and behavior or readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of Food for the Hungry.
Language
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
