The LWF Uganda Program is looking for a qualified and experienced person to fill the following position:

Post Title: Project Assistant (Environment & Energy)
No. of Positions: One (1)
Duty Station: Kyangwali Sub Program
Reports to: Project Officer
Starting date: ASAP
Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Project Officer Livelihood and Environment, the Project Assistant is responsible for implementation of Environment and Energy activities for Kyangwali Sub Program in line with LWF Donor guidelines and procedures.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
• In consultation with the Project Officer and other staffs organize and draw work plans weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual.
• Implementation of environment and energy activities within the scope of the project.
• Community mobilization, targeting and monitoring movement and distribution of environment and energy inputs to the target groups.
• Work with the refugees and host communities to explore indigenous technical experiences and develop cropping mechanism towards environmental conservation and afforestation.
• Conduct environment and energy trainings and sensitizations to the target beneficiaries.
• Attend meetings with partners and stakeholders in the field for environment and energy.
• Participate in surveys, assessments to continually identify environmental conservation and afforestation gaps and needs within project areas.
• Conduct regular field visits to project site and update the project officer with the progress of project activities in the field
• Prepare regular and comprehensive project progressive monthly and weekly reports.
• Participate in Program evaluation
• Create awareness to refugees and host communities in areas of operation on environmental conservation and afforestation.
• Engage with relevant staff to put in place a detailed implementation plan for the
Environment and Energy activities
• Ensure that the project beneļ¬ciaries i.e., refugees and host communities, are
participating as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of the
project.
Other
• Performing any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time including delegation in support with the Project Officer or Sub Program Manager.

Education, Qualifications & Experience Required
• A minimum of a diploma/ degree in Agriculture, Environmental science or forestry, Energy from a recognized University/Institution.
• Past experience (at least 2 years) in implementing Energy and Environment Interventions in refugee and development contexts.

• Problem Solving and Decision-Making skills
• Ability to inspire and build capacity of national staff
• Good interpersonal skills and excellent negotiation skills
• Excellent English Language (both written and spoken)
• Information Technology (MS Office, Internet)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently
• Good team worker with good communication skills
• He/ She should have a passion for environment conservation and should have good
organizational skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
• This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve
results in a demanding and fast paced environment
• Experience of working with Humanitarian Setting
• Ability to ride a motorcycle and with a valid riding permit is desirable
