Job Details:

The Protection Coordinator will be responsible for the provision of technical support to and building the capacity of local partners to effectively deliver GBV and child protection services to refugees and new arrivals in Northern and West Nile locations of Uganda. This role requires strong knowledge, skills and experience in the areas of genderbased violence, sexual gender-based violence, child protection, a deep understanding of child protection case management as well as other protection issues affecting refugees and new arrivals.

Major Roles and Responsibilities;
• Effective delivery of Gender-Based Violence Component by local partners • High quality delivery of Child Protection and CP Case Management Component
• Partners’ adherence to GBV & CP quality standards.
• Strengthen Local Partner Institutional Capacity to Deliver GBV and CP Services including CP and GBV case management
• Coordination and reporting

Qualifications, Skills and Competence required;
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Gender and Women Studies, Protection (Child Protection), Social Work and Social Administration, or a related discipline.
• Master's degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in GBV and Child Protection preferably in the humanitarian/ refugee response.
• GBV and Child Protection case management experience.
• Strong understanding of protection principles, SGBV and Child Protection approaches.
• Proven experience in coaching and mentorship of local partners in GBV and Child Protection.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to humanitarian values, including impartiality, neutrality, and respect for diversity
• Strong social and communication skills for team management as well as for liaising with external stakeholders and partners.
• Problem solving skills, able to deal independently with field work related issues
• Fluency in English; knowledge of refugee languages spoken in West Nile/Northern Uganda is an asset.
• Strong computer, report writing and documentation skills
