The Community Based Protection Assistant will be responsible for expanding community-based protection through managing protection desk, case management, empowering community-based structure to manage their community protection cases through identification, mobilization, reporting referrals and reporting. S/he will ensure capacity building of case workers and community mobilizers in all basic protection, widen the reach of community case management, lead in community awareness creation and supervise management of cases with quality documentation and filing. He / she will also be responsible for community involvement and ownership to enhance inclusivity for sustainability and empowerment of Refugees in the Settlement.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under the supervision of the Community Services officer contribute to achieving monthly targets for the sub sector
• Develop monthly plans for Community services activity implementation including expanding and managing community desks.
• Follow the standards and or principles of the respective thematic areas as well as ALIGHT guidelines and accountability standards.
• Carry out and support all outreach activities in the Refugees settlement such as mobilization, sensitization, counseling etc for Refugee to realize full potentials and build on self-mechanism.
• Responsible for effective and efficient follow up of individual cases of beneficiaries for support
• Conduct community leaders’ meetings including planning meetings, AGDM Verification and Needs assessment
• Support teams during the CRI distributions working with community mobilizers and case workers to establish litigation desks in the process of CRI distribution for POCs from Alight
• Support to PSN:
o Participate from Alight the process of PSN profiling and ongoing risks analysis in order to design adequate responses.
o Ensure PSN support is provided as per needs assessment and profiling
o Conduct follow up field/ home visits to all PSNs and EVIs, reporting regularly their living and health conditions
o Contribute to proper documentation and filing of PSN cases.
o Case management of PSN with clear documentation
• Strengthening of community structures and Community protection:
• Responsible for providing support of community-based structures in the settlement to Community services officer
• Responsible for managing the structures assigned by community services officer
• Participate and support community services officers in conducting needs assessment and providing, tracking and monitoring of support provided to Community self-management structures and Community groups –
• Support in identification of capacity gaps of community structure and building their capacity.
• Engaging community structure on protection related issues, creating awareness and empowering them to reduce the number of risks in the community.
• Assess and report all relevant and emergency incidents as and when they occur in Community.
• Leading in strengthening the Accountability to affected population (AAP) through meaningful engagement with community leaders and members.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports to be submitted to the supervisor.
• Community Complaint Mechanism
• Responsible for functionality of all Complaint Response mechanism (suggestion boxes, FRRM, Protection desks, Community structures)
• Share information on monthly trends on complaints received with community services officer to gauge which methods is working well and or not and putting in corrective actions
• Ensure completion of targets/ activities assigned for Accountability to Affected Population Plan (e.g., FGDs etc.) –
• Managing feedback on times as the complain comes including internal /external referral for service provision.
• With guidance and instructions from the Alight protection staff, follow up on all protection related issues.
• Routinely share with each specific sector/partners the protection concern that are reported and can’t be handle by Alight.

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Community Psychology, Education, Development studies
• A minimum of 2 years working experience in Community Development services with an INGO
• Excellent report writing, communication and analytical skills.
• Work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time and work effectively with colleagues from different backgrounds
• Strong computer skills.
