Job Details:
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will lead the Accounting/Finance department and ensure sound financial management for the company. These include budget formulation and forecasts, development/updating of internal control policies and procedures for financial risk management, corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting and analysis, cash-flow management, tax planning and providing strategic advice to the business units. S/He will also be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies and policies, as well as providing guidance and support to the company’s personnel.
Duties And Responsibilities
• Ensure 100% compliance with up-to-date accounting frameworks, tax and/or regulatory requirements as laid out in the financial policy and procedures manual.
• Take lead in the planning, preparation and forecasting of annual budgets including operating and capital expenditure budgets.
• Preparation of monthly cash flow projections followed by daily cash flow management and monitoring
• Work with the business units to ensure timely invoicing of clients and reconciliation of receipts thereof. Monitor and ensure proper control and timely reconciliation of bank account transactions.
• Track debtor and creditor reconciliations within the agreed timelines.
• Manage and support performance of both internal and external audits with high levels of efficiency.
• Ensure proper maintenance of finance and accounting records, including effective oversight on inventory through the fixed assets register.
• Ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers for purchases or services received.
• Regularly prepare and publish performance (revenue and expense variance) reports for the business units and offer strategic advice on business sustainability following careful and objective analysis thereof.
• Ensure reporting of accurate monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial results within the set timelines through the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Analysis reports.
• Proactive and flawless use of the available accounting software(s), periodic review thereof and make improvement recommendations where necessary.
• Manage stakeholder engagement including but not limited to banks, financiers etc.
• Manage the Accounting team performance through ensuring coaching, training & timely appraisal feedback.
Competences
Skills critical to the role:
• Thorough knowledge of tax regulations, accounting principles and procedures.
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Hands-on experience with SAGE Evolution (accounting software) is a MUST.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills

• Good people management skills
Experience And Qualifications:
Mandatory requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Qualified CPA, CFA, CIMA, ACCA, or any other equivalent certification.
Experience
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as Financial Controller and overseeing a team.
• Must have 3-5 years’ experience with regards undertaking Audits and interfacing with URA.
