Experience and Other requirements: Experience
• 6 years’ experience in a related field, at least three years of which at Senior Officer Level.
Other Requirements:
• Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills with a good command of English Language.
• Excellent knowledge of Public Relations principles and guidelines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, use of digital media for mass communication purposes
• Ability to work independently and with strong organizational and planning skills.
• Demonstrated high morals and personal integrity.
• Negotiation and Influencing skills
Qualifications: Qualifications:
An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, and Media Studies.
• A Masters’ Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public and Media Relations or any other relevant field is a MUST.
• A Post Graduate Diploma qualification in Media Studies, Public Relations or any other relevant field.
• Member of PRAU
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review, update and implement the PR and Media relations strategy, and the Content strategy.
• Review, update, educate and ensure compliance with the internal communication crisis management plan.
• Initiate and drive online and social media programs for publicity to create awareness of the Bureau.
• Collaborate with the Section of Dissemination and Communication to create public and media statistical focused content and plan for its timely dissemination to meet UBOS’ priority audience needs.
• Draft responses to media queries on matters of statistical nature in consultation with the respective Heads of Department and Executive Director.
• Establish, collaborate and maintain media relationships and manage all media accounts.
• Manage engagements in the Office of the Executive Director, media interviews, press conferences and organize publicity activities to build awareness of the Bureau’s products in collaboration with respective statistical departments.
• Identify and address risk issues in the media that might damage the public’s perception about UBOS and her partners.
• Draft, review internal communication products e.g., bulletins, newsletters, podcasts, videos.
• Compile and prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Coordinate the development of the department’s annual budget, work plan, procurement plan, and training plan.
• Supervise, develop staff in the department and conduct performance appraisals.
• Prepare and submit timely accountability for resources.
• Perform any other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
