Job Details:

JOB ROLE/ PURPOSE
The Officer will be responsible for providing effective and efficient technical and administrative support to enable the smooth functioning of the SACCO ICT system to facilitate business continuity in the URA SACCO office.
The Officer will drive the use of technology in the organization, helping implement IT standards and policies, and providing technical support, security controls and solutions to meet the needs of the SACCO. The role will support the network infrastructure, end user support, management of software applications, hardware equipment among other routine IT and administrative tasks.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES

1. Provide support to ICT users in the organization to enhance availability of IT services.
1. Attend to all end users, enable end users use all business applications and hardware with regards to ease of access, functions and usability.
2. Trouble shoot software and hardware failures
3. Sensitize and guide users on new applications and ICT policy
4. Manage user accounts, create and reset accounts and passwords for users
5. Respond to users requests and liaise with second level support to resolve escalated issues
6. Support direct trader inputs by installing virtual private Network and any other relevant application

2. Manage computer hardware and software maintenance in the organization to facilitate business continuity.
1. Conduct installation and configuration of computer hardware and software
2. Upgrade software patches and hardware components
3. Supervise service providers in preventive maintenance and installations
4. Identify user needs for IT equipment and allocate respectively
5. Keep track and account for all IT assets in custody
6. Coordinate the movement and repair of all IT assets in the organization

3. Control Security of ICT hardware and systems to enhance safety of IT assets
1. Control physical access to the server rooms in the respective stations
2. Reset passwords to users and control access to applications
3. Maintain the environment and cleanliness in the server rooms in order to minimize outages
4. Monitor the functionality of hardware and systems in the server rooms

4. Backup and recovery of data and systems
1. Provide backup of data, tests and recovery of systems and data of a wide range of systems namely database, operating systems, and business applications of any platforms used by the SACCO
2. Provide guideline to end users in event of systems failure in order to ensure business continuity

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Essential

1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer science or Information Systems.


Desirable
1. Microsoft certified system Administrator (MCSA).
2. CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
3. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISP)
4. Oracle Certified Administrator
5. CompTIA A+
6. ITIL Certified

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Experience

1. Must have at least 2 years’ experience in providing IT support in a reputable organization with a reasonable number of users


Knowledge
The job holder must have adequate knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), National IT Act, Information communication policy and the Incident management policy

3. Policy management

SPECIAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
1. The job holder must have strong administration skills and good interpersonal skills with exceptional ability to pay attention to detail.
2. S/he must be self-driven, a good communicator, a logical thinker (strong troubleshooting skills) and assertive in nature.
3. S/he must be able to use the appropriate tools for repairing software, hardware, and peripheral equipment of a system.
4. S/he must be customer service orientated, responsible and accountable with proven ability to Work and perform well under pressure
