We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Child and Adolescent Health Specialist for a USAID funded project in Uganda.

Description:
FHI 360 seeks a Child and Adolescent Health Specialist to provide technical support to the Government of Uganda (GoU) to improve the access to and use of quality child and adolescent health services, including immunization, at community and health facility levels. The Child and Adolescent Health Specialist will be based in Kabale or Moroto sub-regions, providing technical support and guidance to healthcare facilities and communities in respective catchment areas. This will require frequent travels to respective catchment area communities and facilities.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:
The Child and Adolescent Health Specialist will assist the Integrated Service Delivery Advisor in ensuring the overall success of the project. S/He and will be responsible for providing technical guidance on the implementation and monitoring of facility and community-based interventions, and contributing to creation and dissemination of knowledge products. The Child and Adolescent Health Specialist will work closely with the program team, under the leadership of the Integrated Service Delivery Advisor to execute the following responsibilities:
1. Provide overall technical direction and guidance related to evidence-based child and adolescent health programming, including immunization, for facility and community-level interventions, based on local and global best practices.
2. Support technical aspects of projects including staff and partner capacity building.
3. Contribute to program/project design, implementation, learning, and monitoring and evaluation through active collaboration with project teams.
4. Conduct analysis of project implementation to identify areas for improvement and propose appropriate technical strategy and guidelines.
5. Provide guidance and technical support in alignment with GoU child and adolescent policies and strategies, including USAID development priorities.
6. Support the development and refinement of child and adolescent health capacity strengthening and quality improvement project inputs (trainings/mentoring/coaching, tools, guidelines, and standards) to support GoU interventions.
7. Develop or write technical briefs, reports, or other necessary materials to facilitate research, best practices, policies, and procedures.
8. Contribute to the learning agenda by identifying information gaps in child and adolescent health and immunization that could be filled by secondary data analysis, literature reviews, field testing of new approaches, and collaborative learning events.
9. Actively engage in networks and forums to support GoU child and adolescent health priorities and promote involvement of multiple government sectors, donors, and the private sector in child and adolescent health-related initiatives.
10. Maintain diplomatic and high-quality interactions and clear and consistent communications internally and with partners.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent required. Master’s Degree in public health, clinical pediatrics, or health services management and clinical background with public health training is strongly preferred.
2. At least four (4) years of work experience in the Uganda health system, preferably at regional or district level.
3. Deep knowledge of the landscape for child and adolescent health and immunization programming in Uganda, including related key GoU and USAID priorities.
4. Excellent knowledge of Uganda planning and performance management system, district supervision and the country’s child health quality of care plan and roadmap.
5. Excellent knowledge of Uganda district and community-level structures.
6. Experience in managing/working with international agencies, USAID funded program
7. Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred.
8. Proven senior expertise in developing and implementing effective partnerships with partners, government entities, and donors.
9. Knowledge and proven experience in technical leadership, strategy development, and staff oversight.
10. Demonstrated leadership, management, coordination, teamwork, and planning skills, with proven ability to liaise effectively with and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including global, regional, national, local, public and private partners.
11. Demonstrated strategic planning, systems analysis skills, staff development and capacity building experience.
