Background
Enabel in Uganda is seeking to recruit a Teaching and Learning Expert to be based in Kampala with frequent travel to Kampala with frequent travel to Busoga and Rwenzori regions (BE) as well as West Nile, Acholi Lango regions.
The Teaching and Learning Expert will give expert technical guidance in both in teacher professional development and quality of learning for both Secondary Education interventions by focusing on continuous professional development for teachers and the quality of learning, developing ways to ensure Learning environments in lower secondary schools are more conducive and secure for learners, building Local Government capacities and stewardship for inclusive, participatory and accountable education management and leadership;
Tasks and Responsibilities
1. You contribute to the implementation of the programme/intervention by providing input for planning, execution, coordination, and monitoring and evaluation of activities;
2. You provide the necessary technical input in the area of improving the quality of Learning in secondary Education;
3. You are responsible for the continous professional development for teachers (training, coaching and mentoring) as well as the quality of learning;
4. You contribute to the design of conducive learning environments, support supervision and inspection and the capacity building for school management;
Required Qualifications and Experience
1. A Master’s degree in Education Management, Education Sciences or any other related subject area especially in Teaching.
2. At least 5 years’ proven experience in program design and implementation of curriculum and materials development in the Education sector;
3. At least 5 years’ proven experience in active teaching and learning methods, mentoring and capacity building of teachers, teacher educators, staff and partners;
Required Knowledge and Skills
1. In-depth understanding of and professional capacity in teacher professional development;
2. Knowledge of international best practices in teacher professional development and instructional practices;
3. Familiar with research, monitoring, and evaluation and the application of findings to improve teacher professional capacities and performance;
4. Ability to mentor, motivate and empower the performance of team members and partners;
5. Ability to develop and maintain a positive working relationships through regular contact and visits with the national, regional and local Ministry structures.
