Job title: Clinical Officer (4 Positions)
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire suitable candidates for the position of Clinical Officer for the SEARCH SAPPHIRE Study (phase B) to be based in South Western & South Central Uganda. The Clinical Officers will be in charge of all site activities and will supervise the site staff. The successful candidates will report to the Study Coordinator.
Job description:
• Be the lead clinician and coordinate all site activities at the study clinic.
• Supervise all study staff at the facility, and responsible for all study material at the facility.
• Work closely with study staff to ensure participants are seen on time.
• Screening of study participants and obtain informed consent from parents/guardians.
• Ensure accurate and proper completion of all study logs and case record forms.
• Perform clinical examinations and basic laboratory evaluations.
• Provide appropriate interventions and treatment for participants, and refer complicated cases for further evaluation.
• Participate in field recruitment of participants at outreaches, and track any missed visits.
• Work closely with the VHTs as they collect data from the community, and support them as needed.
• Participate in entering Laboratory results into the participants’ case record forms.
• Maintain confidentiality of records and research findings as appropriate.
• Attend staff meetings.
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time depending on the changing needs of the project.
Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
• A Diploma in clinical medicine from a recognized institution.
• Fully registered with Allied Medical Council with an up-to-date annual practicing license.
• 2-year work experience in a research setting especially HIV research.
• Evidence of training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and HSP.
• Ability to speak either Runyankole or Luganda is a must.
• Excellent communication, computer, organizational and interpersonal skills.
